Tyree Guyton Blog Post
Tyree Guyton made a lot of points in the podcast which I thought were really important. His points about educating and preparing children through art stood out to me. In one quote he states something along the lines of "You need opposition. If you’ve never been through anything how are you supposed to tell somebody something about the ups and downs of this world. It makes you, it shapes you." This was definitely my favorite commentary from him, as it aligns almost perfectly with my own views.
However, I felt like at times his statements about art and life veered into the pseudo-intellectual. I understand that he is an artist, not a speaker, but his faith came into the conversation in a somewhat strange way when he talked about how "everything is moving" and "creating reality through visualization".
Some of his generalizations such as “I’m not gonna wait for the world to make me happy, I’m going to make me happy," almost sounded like Eric Thomas, a motivational video maker who I've listened to.

Sarah, can you say more about the parallel with Eric Thomas? Do you find such motivational statements to be inspiring, or suspicious, or what? And why?
